CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Four people are dead after a single-vehicle crash on the interstate in downtown Charleston.

According to Charleston police, a driver lost control of the vehicle at about 10:52 p.m. Friday heading east at the I-77/I-64 split. The vehicle hit the median wall and tumbled off the interstate into the Martin Marietta Charleston Yard below along Pennsylvania Avenue.

Police said four people in the vehicle all died. The names of the victims have not yet been released.

The investigation into the crash is continuing.

It’s the second crash this week where a vehicle left the interstate. A tractor trailer went over the median wall Wednesday morning not far from the Friday crash scene. Both the driver, who was ejected, and the passenger survived that crash.
