Adobe has announced updates to Firefly that expand its audio capabilities, add more third-party AI models and make Firefly AI Assistant available through a free experience.

Firefly’s Generate Music, Generate Speech and Generate Sound Effects tools are now generally available. The tools are designed for video, social content, advertising, short films, tutorials and podcast clips.

Generate Music creates original tracks based on a video’s length and mood. Generate Speech converts scripts into voiceovers using either Adobe’s Firefly speech model or ElevenLabs, while Generate Sound Effects creates custom audio based on the action and timing of a video.

Adobe says a recent survey conducted with Berklee College of Music found that 79.3% of respondents post video content daily or several times a week, while 100% say they use music in their videos. The survey also found that 43.2% cite legal and copyright risk and 38.9% cite licensing costs as barriers to using music.

Firefly AI Assistant, which Adobe introduced in beta earlier this year, is also getting expanded access. The assistant includes creative skills such as Create Storyboard and Create Brand Kit, and Adobe is now offering a free experience with daily generations.

Adobe is also expanding the AI models available within Firefly. The platform includes models from Adobe, Google, Kling AI, Luma AI, OpenAI and Runway, among others. The latest addition is Gemini Omni Flash, which supports video, audio and image inputs alongside text. Adobe says the model can be used to develop video concepts and make iterative edits within Firefly.

The updates follow recent additions to Firefly, including Runway Aleph 2.0 and Kling 3.0. Adobe says bringing multiple AI models and creative tools into Firefly allows users to choose different models for different tasks without switching between applications or subscriptions.
