Rebel Wolves and Bandai Namco have shared console gameplay of their upcoming action RPG, The Blood of Dawnwalker, which they say will run up to 40fps.

Dawnwalker will offer two graphics modes on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Quality Mode will target 30fps at dynamic 4K resolution, while Balanced Mode will target 40fps at dynamic 4K resolution.

PlayStation 5 Pro will target the same frame rates and dynamic 4K resolution, according to a new video, but with “enhanced visual quality” across both modes.

There’s no mention of a 60fps option for launch, which appears to have sparked some disappointment among those commenting on the video.

“[I] was excited but I guess I’ll be waiting for a performance patch,” wrote one user. Another added: “I’d rather have the option of playing it at 1080p at 60 fps rather than 4k at 40 fps.”

The Blood of Dawnwalker will release for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on September 3. The game is directed by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, who was The Witcher 3’s game director and head of production/secondary game director for Cyberpunk 2077.

In a recent hands-on preview, VGC’s Jordan Middler said Dawnwalker “instantly became one of my most anticipated games after four hours of play”.

“The Blood of Dawnwalker doesn’t feel like the first game from a new studio. There’s a level of experience in the bones of this game that is evident from the opening moments.

“While its developer’s pedigree is unimpeachable, ‘the new thing from the guys who made the amazing thing’ is rarely as impressive as this.”
