In the UK, comedians Elis James and John Robins, alongside long-term producer Dave Masterman, have teamed up to launch a brand new production company: Significant Productions. The trio have made some of the UK’s most successful podcasts over the past twelve years.
First look: Analytics and management solution Podstock has announced agreements with a number of sports media brands including Goalhanger, Playmaker, and others - joining existing publishers including Locked On and Blue Wire.
Slate’s podcast portfolio is to be represented by Acast, the companies announced. The agreement brings more than 1.5mn weekly listens to Acast. Slate describes it as “a crucial step in scaling our podcast network while maintaining our unique editorial voice”.
Audioboom has snagged one of the biggest true crime shows. RedHanded joins the network from Wondery. The show took the Gold Listener’s Choice Award at the British Podcast Awards three years in a row, and achieves more than 30 million downloads a year.
Independent podcast production studio Gilded Audio has announced it is to close. Managing Director Whitney Donaldson sent a newsletter saying “making the decision was hard and multifaceted, but ultimately, it was the right one.”
News of something that could be pretty cool - a new podcast accelerator for first-time creators. The Pretty Cool Creator Collective, from production company Could Be Pretty Cool, is based in Atlanta GA in the US. It’s founded by Kacie Luaders, who was a 2019 graduate of Spotify’s Sound Up podcast accelerator.
Hulu is the latest streaming platform to add podcasts to its service, after signing Headgum show We’re Here To Help. Unlike Netflix, which has demanded exclusivity, Hulu will get the show “a day before they are available on the podcast’s soon-to-be relaunched YouTube channel”.
Triton Digital has launched its Podcast Metrics Industry Feature Set. The analytics tools allow publishers access to benchmarks, market share information and audience composition insights, across twenty podcast markets worldwide.
Magellan AI has been recertified by the IAB for its Podcast Measurement Guidelines.
On Air Fest has confirmed that the journalist Don Lemon, who was recently arrested, will still be appearing at the event. Here’s the full schedule.

Half of all podcast listeners discover new shows directly on Apple Podcasts and Spotify and 70% of them start by typing a keyword in the search bar. If your metadata doesn’t include the same words your audience is searching for, your podcast simply won’t appear in their results.
