Porsche Cayenne S Electric brings 400 kW powertrain and 400 kW charging to the mid-range SUV slot

Porsche has added a mid-range variant to its all-electric Cayenne line, slotting the new Cayenne S Electric between the base Cayenne Electric and the Turbo. The powertrain uses permanent magnet synchronous motors on both axles for a system output of 400 kW, rising to 490 kW under Launch Control.

Porsche has added a mid-range variant to its all-electric Cayenne line, slotting the new Cayenne S Electric between the base Cayenne Electric and the Turbo. The powertrain uses permanent magnet synchronous motors on both axles for a system output of 400 kW, rising to 490 kW under Launch Control. This delivers a 0–62 mph time of 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph, with a WLTP range of up to 405 miles.

All three Cayenne Electric variants share the same 113 kWh gross battery pack. Porsche quotes a maximum DC charging capacity of 400 kW on compatible 800‑V infrastructure, allowing a 10‑to‑80 percent charge in under 16 minutes. The rear‑axle motor employs direct oil cooling that draws heat straight from the current‑carrying components rather than relying on conventional liquid cooling of the housing. A silicon‑carbide rear pulse inverter contributes to the system’s efficiency and can handle currents up to 620 amps.

Chassis and braking technologies previously limited to the Turbo are now available on the S. Options include the Porsche Active Ride adaptive suspension, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, and the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake system. A Push‑to‑Pass function delivers an additional 90 kW for ten seconds, while Track mode manages torque distribution and battery conditioning for circuit driving.

Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur has also introduced an Interior Style Package, available across all Cayenne Electric derivatives. It pairs black leather with Delgada Green upholstery and Izabal Green aluminium trim, with coordinated accents in the instrument cluster and a colour‑matched key. UK pricing for the package ranges from £3,737 on the Turbo to £9,540 on the Cayenne S. The Cayenne S Electric itself starts at £99,900 in the UK.
