It was previously reported that Geekom was shipping malware in the drivers for its A7, A8, AE7, AX7 Pro, and AX8 Pro mini PCs. The drivers were initially flagged by Windows Security as a trojan that could "execute commands from an attacker," and reports on Reddit were verified by services like VirusTotal, FileScan, and MetaDefender.

Since those initial reports, however, Geekom has responded to the driver malware infection, explaining in an official statement to VideoCardz that the affected legacy LAN driver page, which was not linked in the main product page but was still publicly accessible and indexed on search engines, has since been removed entirely. The brand said in the statement that "the issue traces back to an outdated resource that we failed to remove from our older pages in time, and we are sorry for the concern and inconvenience it has caused our users and the wider community," adding that it has confirmed that the driver is confined to the now-removed legacy drivers.

GEEKOM Official Statement Regarding a Driver File Flagged on Legacy Pages

We have seen the recent reports that a driver file associated with GEEKOM was flagged by several security scanners, and we take these concerns seriously.

We want to sincerely apologize. This issue traces back to an outdated resource that we failed to remove from our older pages in time, and we are sorry for the concern and inconvenience it has caused our users and the wider community.

After a thorough internal review, we can confirm that the matter is confined to legacy pages. Our current driver pages show no such anomalies, and this does not affect GEEKOM hardware or the operating system pre-installed on our devices.

We are now removing the affected legacy files and tightening our resource-management and review processes to prevent any recurrence.

If you have already downloaded or run this file

If you previously downloaded the affected LAN driver package, we recommend the following steps as a precaution:

Do not run the flagged installer, and delete any copy you may have saved locally.
Run a full scan with Windows Security (Microsoft Defender) or another trusted anti-malware tool.
Reinstall your network driver from a trusted source—via Windows Update or the official Realtek website—or use the updated package from the official GEEKOM site.
For complete peace of mind, you may perform a clean installation of Windows using Microsoft's official image.
