We've got a brand new look - learn how we got here.
When we first launched Portainer in 2016, the world looked very different. Docker was the epicenter of containerization, and our brand (logo, name, even the way we described ourselves) was built for that world. But fast forward to now, and that’s not really who we are anymore.
Over the past few years, we’ve gone deep into Kubernetes and Edge. That’s where our users are, that’s where our product has matured, and that’s what we’re known for with the customers who have experienced the modern "us". But the problem is, our brand didn’t reflect that. The logo still tied us to Docker. The vibe still suggested “basic GUI for beginners.” And too many people still assumed Portainer was what it used to be, not what it’s become.
So yeah, we rebranded. Not because we wanted to reinvent ourselves, but because we needed to correct the perception.
The new brand is cleaner, more modern, and deliberately no-nonsense. It reflects how we build software: intuitive, robust, and stripped of unnecessary noise. No fluff, no techno-mysticism. Just tools that work, built for teams that want to get stuff done.
And finally, it gives us a way to use our real voice, the one we’ve always had behind closed doors. We’re not here to impress you with buzzwords. We’re here to help you solve real problems, without turning your platform into a science project.
Still Portainer. Just better aligned with who we are now.I hope you enjoy the brand as much as I do, and long may Portainer solve real problems with unassuming ease.
Infrastructure Moves Fast. Stay Ahead.

Neil Cresswell is the co-founder and CEO of Portainer, a popular platform that simplifies container management for Docker, Kubernetes, and edge environments. A veteran of over 25 years in IT, he began his career with 12 years at IBM before leading VMware consulting at ViFX across Asia-Pacific and serving as CEO for cloud service providers. Frustrated by the lack of usable tooling for “containers as a service,” he created Portainer to make container technology accessible to everyone. Under his leadership, Portainer has grown from an open-source UI into an enterprise-ready platform used globally.
