A charity golf day in Shipley has raised more than £10,000 to help fund extra support for NHS patients and carers.

The event, now in its fifth year, was organised by the Better Lives charity for Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust and took place at Shipley Golf Club.

Funds raised will go towards activities and support that fall outside core NHS services for people using the Trust’s mental health, learning disability, community, and children’s services.

Claire Blamires, community fundraiser, said: "We’re really pleased to share that a fantastic £10,188 was raised this year to go back into supporting people from Bradford, Airedale, Wharfedale, and Craven, who access our services.

"This tournament wouldn’t have been possible without the support of local businesses coming together, including our headline sponsor Whitaker and Leach and our hosts, Natalie and Jake from Shipley Golf Club."

Eighteen teams took part in the tournament, with the ‘FORE boys’: Kieron Cassidy, James Lord, Luke Hallinan, and Damon Ambler, taking first place.

The charity’s next fundraiser is the Bradford Dragon Boat Race, set for Sunday, July 5 at Roberts Park in Saltaire.
