Customer says StubHub seating map didn't match the tickets he received

When Elvis Morris bought resale concert tickets for a trip to Paris, he expected the seats to match what he saw online.
Morris, who said he frequently buys and sells tickets through the platform, purchased six Category 1 tickets to see Rüfüs Du Sol at the Adidas Arena in Paris.
“So these were all like sideline, lower-level, great seats at Adidas Arena in Paris, France,” Morris said.
But when the tickets arrived, Morris said the seats were not where StubHub’s seating map had indicated Category 1 tickets would be.
“The tickets did say Category 1, but they were section N, which is in the top corner, almost at row 69, you know — nosebleed type seats. Not at all what I purchased, ” Morris said.
He said he contacted StubHub and was told he had received what he paid for: Category 1 seats.
“I started screen-shotting everything. Not just the actual map, but I also started screen-shotting the web address as well as the time and date stamp on the bottom of my screen,” Morris said.
“I go round and round and around with them numerous calls,” he added. “I’m recording each call, I’m documenting it, and every time they’re telling me, ‘You received Category 1 tickets, that’s what you paid for.’ But it’s not. They misrepresented the map,” Morris said.
Morris said he eventually reached a StubHub representative who explained what may have happened.
“Adidas Arena in Paris, France, has three different seating charts. They have a seating chart for concerts. They have a seating chart for sporting events, such as tennis or basketball,and then they have a seating chart for, you know, a stand-up comedian or some kind of speaking event, ” Morris said.
Morris said he was told that within those different seating charts, Category 1 could mean different things.
“StubHub or Adidas, I don’t know who made the mistake, put the wrong seating chart up, ” Morris said.
After that conversation, Morris said he bought new seats in the area he wanted, expecting StubHub to refund the first purchase.
When that refund did not come, he contacted NBC 5 Responds.
NBC 5 Responds contacted StubHub about Morris’ complaint. Soon after, the company refunded his purchase and provided a 25% discount coupon.
In a statement to NBC 5 Responds, StubHub said:
“We know fans put a great deal of trust in the ticket-buying experience, and we take that responsibility seriously. StubHub relies on event and venue seating configurations when displaying category-based inventory to fans. Once this issue was brought to our attention, we worked directly with the customer to make things right. Our priority is always making sure fans feel supported and can purchase tickets with confidence.”
Morris said his advice for other ticket buyers is to save screenshots of the listing, seating map, web address and confirmation before finalizing a purchase.
