Over the past few years, we’ve seen several retro gaming consoles turned into buildable brick sets, including the SEGA Genesis, Nintendo Game Boy, and Atari 2600. Now, it seems that enthusiasts will soon be able to build the original Xbox console, although this particular set isn’t from LEGO, but Mattel.

Mattel says the set was created to celebrate the Xbox’s 25th anniversary. The upcoming model falls under the toy giant’s Mattel Brick Shop brand, which offers premium brick-building sets based on properties such as Hot Wheels and Masters of the Universe.

In any case, the set is a 1:1-scale model of the original Xbox, complete with the “Duke” controller. The whole thing consists of 3,509 pieces. While it is primarily designed as a display piece, Mattel has also added several interactive features for fans.

These come in the form of three miniature dioramas based on Halo: Combat Evolved, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, and Psychonauts. Each diorama also comes with its associated figurines, with 12 miniatures included in total. The dioramas are housed within the brick-built Xbox itself but can be removed and displayed separately.

Once fully built, pressing a button on the “Duke” will activate a lighting effect on one of the modules, with the associated game’s soundtrack playing at the same time. There’s also a hidden button combination that triggers an “exclusive lighting sequence”, according to the press release.

The buildable Xbox is available for pre-order now via Amazon, Best Buy, and Mattel Creations, with a suggested retail price of US$329.99 (~RM1,333). However, the toy giant has yet to confirm whether the set will be available in Malaysia. That said, the company’s other Mattel Brick Shop sets have already been spotted at local retailers, so there is a chance that this Xbox model could eventually make its way here as well.
