Skye Wheatley has revealed the impact viral backlash had on her after she posted an 'insensitive' joke on Instagram about her sex life with boyfriend Lachlan Waugh.

The influencer, 30, recently claimed she was axed from Channel Seven's reboot of Big Brother back in 2022 after making the controversial sex confession.

During Thursday's episode of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! Australia, Skye slammed social media trolls for 'twisting' her words.

'It started blowing up, getting posted to other pages,' she explained.

'She's making her partner have unconsensual sex [they would say]. I had to post an apology explaining myself. It's the perfect example of how things get twisted.'

She explained brands that had sponsored her didn't 'want to be  be associated with me because of the hate surrounding my name'.

Skye continued: 'Now I'm constantly paranoid about what I'm saying. I'm always worrying I'm offending someone or have said something rude.'

'I know things can be taken so far out of context that it's scary, so I have had to restrict myself a lot in what I say.'

Skye previously said she was set to star in Big Brother two years ago, alongside fan-favourites Reggie Bird, Tim Dormer, Tully Smyth and Layla Subritzky.

But she was booted from the season 14 show just weeks out from filming after posting an 'insensitive' joke on Instagram about her sex life with boyfriend Lachlan.

'I was supposed to go on for that, but a couple of weeks before flying to Sydney to do it, I answered a question on my Instagram, 'Who's more dominant in the bedroom?',' she told news.com.au.

'And I said, 'Oh, it depends … If I'm in the mood, I'm not going to take no for an answer.' But he likes that. He likes when I'm like, 'Babe, let's have sex.'

'But everyone was like, "You make him have non-consensual sex".'

Skye, who first shot to fame on Big Brother in 2014, later received an email from producers telling her she'd been axed from the show.

'They said, 'Hey, we're not going to go ahead with putting you in.' They wouldn't tell me the reason, but, that had to be the reason,' she added.

'They didn't want bad publicity or anything like that, which was really disappointing. It actually broke my heart.'
