Robert Irwin received rave reviews for his co-hosting skills alongside Julia Morris on this season of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, but an insider has claimed he won't be back next year.

According to Woman's Day, the wildlife enthusiast is being poached back by rival network Seven.

'His easygoing and faultless live TV skills have won over the nation. But his career at Ten will only be short-lived, and he is heading back to Seven,' a source told the publication.

The strategic negotiation is said to have been orchestrated by Robert's mother Terri Irwin, who has been hailed as the ultimate 'mumager'.

'The Irwins are very smart when it comes to negotiations,' the insider added.

Robert's departure from the popular show will mark the end of a partnership that brought fresh energy to the series.

The magazine's source added that the decision to join IAC was seen as a one-off opportunity to elevate his mainstream television profile - a goal that has undoubtedly been achieved. 

Channel Seven is reportedly keen to welcome him back with open arms and a lucrative deal.

'Seven want Robert back and have thrown a king's ransom at him,' the source explained.

If the deal goes through, Julia Morris will have to find herself a new partner in crime to cement the show's future. 

Robert's light-hearted jest about replacing weatherman Sam Mac now takes on new weight as Channel Seven's bosses are reportedly serious about securing him a spot on their permanent roster.
