Meryl Streep cut a stylish figure in a pink suit as she hit the star studded red carpet at the Peacock Theater for the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday.

The 75-year-old actress looked characteristically chic, donning a double breasted blazer which she teamed with matching wide legged trousers.

Under the jacket, the Mamma Mia star opted for a coordinated pussybow blouse, finishing the ensemble with a pair of silver heels.

The look may have seemed somewhat familiar to style-watchers, as it is not dissimilar to ensembles previously worn by the Princess of Wales, 42.

Back in June 2022, the then-Duchess of Cambridge was elegant in a £1,420 baby pink Alexander McQueen blazer as she hosted a round-table discussion on the importance of early childhood development and its links to mental health with senior government ministers.

The royal, who held the meeting at the Royal Institution in London, met with then Health Secretary Sajid Javid, and then families minister Will Quince, as well as representatives from the early years sector, and officials from the Department for Education and the Department of Health and Social Care.

She paired the matching pink blazer and trousers with a fitted white top, finishing the look with a dazzling jewellery set.

Kate opted for her pair of £3,750 Mappin & Webb 'Empress' Diamond Carriage Earrings and her matching £2,000 Empress Mini White Gold & Diamond Pendant Necklace.

While her suit was more fitted than the one worn by Meryl Streep for the Emmys, the colour was similar.

And there was another notable item the actress donned that bore a striking similarity to one donned in the past by the royal.

This was the pink pussy bow blouse Meryl sported underneath her blazer. 

The pussy bow has become somewhat of a signature look for the Princess of Wales, who has donned the classic style on a number of occasions.

By pairing this type of top with trousers or matching suit, the royal has given the impression of professionalism with a touch of charm during multiple royal duties.

But she has also chosen the neckline for glamorous events and celebrations, including wearing a coral dress with a pussy bow for nephew Archie's christening in 2019. 

The style could be an unwitting tribute to Princess Diana who famously wore a white pussy bow blouse with a blue suit when announcing her engagement to Charles in 1981.

Speaking last year, stylist Susie Hasler, who runs Style by Susie, told MailOnline that the popular royal look gives the opportunity for 'very different styles' while being flattering for 'all shapes'.

She added: 'Kate is traditional and feminine with the clothes she wears - that's why she has her bow tied up.

'Because of her place in the royal family, she always opts for clothes that are much more formal and conservative.'

In 2022, the mother-of-three looked sophisticated and composed in a pink pussy bow blouse and burgundy Roland Mouret power suit on the first full day of her US tour with Prince William.

Last year, she wore a similar pale blue silk Winser London blouse teamed with a longline powder blue coat for a gentler impression to visit the PIPS (Public Initiative for Prevention of Suicide and Self Harm) charity in Belfast, which provides support to individuals who are considering, or who have at some point considered, ending their own lives. 

She then kept the versatile look when the visit took a more playful turn as she and Prince William took part in a cocktail-making race at an outdoor market in the city.  

The princess has even sported pussy bow looks from the high street, recycling a £16 black and white houndstooth dress from Zara partnered with eye-catching patent grey high heels on a visit to University College London in 2021.

Kate had worn the dress, reduced from £89.99, on a trip to Bradford earlier that year and it had already sold out online when she made her appearance.

She has an extensive collection of pussy bow dresses, wearing an elegant pale pink floral dress to mark World Mental Health Day with Prince William and Prince Harry in 2016.

She sported a festive interpretation of the style when she appeared on Mary Berry's A Berry Royal Christmas with her husband in 2019, choosing a red patterned dress for the show.
