Yevhen was sentenced for 6 years of imprisonment, however he was imprisoned actually for 4,5 years. The spouse and the friends of Ye.Zhukov came to meet him in Yaroslavl which was 2200 km from Sevastopol. «I was imprisoned [in the penitentiary] with harsh conditions. All day long I had to sit, practically with no moving. Prior to that I had worked as a constructor, later had been trained as a baker and for almost a year I had worked as a baker… My work attitude was a demonstration of my belief. The work helped me to escape the negative thoughts’, – Ye.Zhukov says about the routine behind the bars. Volodymyr Sakada and Volodymyr Maladyka, two more “witnesses” from Sevastopol were sentenced together with Ye.Zhukov in the same case in 2020-2022. They might be released in July 2026 as the Crimean Human Rights Group was informed. In October 2020 the occupying officers searched the dwellings of at least 9 residents of Sevastopol. On the same date the FSB opened the criminal case against V.Maladyka, Ye. Zhukov and V.Sakada under the Article “organization of the activity of the extremist organization” (Art. 282.2-1). On 2 October 2020 “Lenin district court” of Sevastopol imprisoned 4 believers of “Jehovah witnesses: Ye.Zhukov, V.Sakada, V.Maladyka and I.Shmidt. On 6 October 2022 Olga Berdnikova, “the judge” of “the Nakhimov district court” of Sevastopol, found 3 “Jehovah witnesses” guilty of extremism. Ye. Zhukov, V.Maladyka and V.Sakada were sentenced for 6 years imprisonment in the colony.
On 9 June 2026 Yevhen Zhukov, the “Jehovah witness” from Sevastopol served his sentence. Yevhen was sentenced for 6 years of imprisonment, however he was imprisoned actually for 4,5 years.
