Coffee and travel come together in a new range of exclusives by cult-favourite Japanese stationery brand.

For coffee lovers, every sip is a journey, with new flavours and discoveries gradually revealing themselves along the way. So when Starbucks Reserve Roastery Tokyo teamed up with Traveler’s Company, the Japanese stationery brand behind the cult-favourite Traveler’s Notebook, to create a limited-edition collection in 2019, the pairing proved to be so perfect that the two have continued releasing exclusive items together almost every year since.

▼ Making the tie-up even more special is the fact that both companies call Tokyo’s Nakameguro neighbourhood home.

This year’s collaboration between neighbours gives us five new products, based around the concept of “enjoying every day like a journey“, with designs inspired by Starbucks’ “Farm to Cup” philosophy and the Roastery Tokyo experience. All display the retro travel journal aesthetic that makes Traveler’s Company products so distinctive and popular.

▼ Starbucks Reserve Roastery Traveler’s Refill Tasting Notebook — 1,600 yen (US$11)

This special Traveler’s Notebook refill illustrates the coffee journey from farm to cup with letterpress printing and foil stamping. Inside are tasting note pages for recording coffees, meals, places visited, and memorable discoveries, allowing customers to create their own personal coffee journal.

▼ Starbucks Reserve Roastery Traveler’s Postcard Set — 2,000 yen

A set of six postcards featuring original illustrations of Roastery Tokyo icons and motifs by Traveler’s Company. Printed on a variety of textured papers, these are ideal for preserving memories of a visit or sharing handwritten messages from your travels.

▼ Starbucks Reserve Roastery Traveler’s Cotton Bag Medium — 1,800 yen

Inspired by the experience of bringing home a favourite coffee from a trip, this drawstring cotton bag is large enough to hold a bag of coffee beans, and also doubles as an organiser inside a larger bag.

▼ Starbucks Reserve Roastery Traveler’s Tote Bag — 5,000 yen

This canvas tote mimics the look of a well-travelled suitcase covered in souvenir stickers, with the Roastery Tokyo and Nakameguro being the prime destinations. Inside, you’ll find a large inner pocket that’s just the right size for holding a Traveler’s Notebook, as well as enough room to hold a tumbler or bottle, and other everyday essentials.

▼ Starbucks Reserve Roastery Traveler’s Handle Lid Stainless Steel Bottle (473 millilitres [16 ounces]) — 5,900 yen

Adorned in Roastery Tokyo-inspired travel motifs, this vacuum-insulated stainless steel bottle comes with a carry handle so you can easily carry it around with you on long journeys or even short strolls around Nakameguro.

Whether you’re a fan of Starbucks or Traveler’s Company, this is a collection that’s likely to sell out within days of its release. In a fitting twist, this range based around travel actually requires you to set out on a journey to find it, as it will be available exclusively at the Starbucks Reserve Roastery Tokyo from 6 August.
