OK, yes it sucks. We can admit that.

But on the other hand, we can’t be terribly shocked either.

*The GOP regularly wins governorships around the nation, including MD and even MA where Charlie Baker is considering a third term and will probably win it.

*Ralph Northam did not win a majority in 2017. There was a Libertarian running who, likely, took some votes away from the GOPer.

*It has been 30 years since the same party won three VA governorships in a row.

*Youngkin latched on to a powerful message: Racism and Homophobia …in our schools! Oh, won’t someone think of the children!?!? Was it all bullshit? Of COURSE it was. But that’s politics.

But I ain’t gonna blow this out of proportion and put on sackcloth and roll around in ashes. Why?

*Just like in MD and MA, VA has a hard-won Dem Majority in the State Congress. We can limit the crazy from this elitist asshole.

*It’s not a Senate seat. Blue states will elect GOP governors, but (usually) not Senators, and I believe Purple VA will continue to send Dem Senators to Washington. Youngkin will probably try to run for Mark Warner’s current seat in 2026 and I believe he will fail.

*He’s term limited like every other VA governor

*It will be fun watching him try to fend off the Orange Goblin who will both want to be his new best buddy and will also take full credit for this win.

Also, no matter what, there is going to be no Bitching Whining or Moaning from us about HE STOLDED THE ELECTION!!! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!! Uh uh. Nope. No way.

This is politics. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.
