Hyundai unveiled the new Neira Concept, a seven-seat electric minivan, at GIIAS 2026.

Is Hyundai launching an electric minivan?

The Neira Concept debuted at the 2026 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) on Thursday, alongside the IONIQ 3 and several other Hyundai vehicles.

Hyundai said the seven-seat electric people mover will be produced locally in Indonesia, starting by the end of 2026.

Although it didn’t reveal any other details, the concept is nearly identical to the Kia Carens Clavis EV, an electric MPV that launched in India last year.

Aside from the Hyundai badges and logos, the Neira is a near-replica of the Kia Carens EV. Hyundai added a few subtle differences to help differentiate it, including its unique front and rear end designs, headlights, and alloy wheels.

The interiors are even more similar. Both feature dual 12.3″ instrument cluster and center infotainment screens, plus an additional climate control panel.

It has yet to be confirmed, but like the Carens Clavis EV, Hyundai’s electric minivan is expected to be available with two battery pack options: 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh. The smaller (42 kWh) pack offers an MIDC range of up to 251 mi (404 km), while the larger (51.4 kWh) has up to 304 mi (490 km) on a single charge.

Both batteries can be recharged from 10% to 80% in about 39 minutes using a 100 kW DC fast charger.

Will Hyundai bring the electric minivan to the US? Don’t get your hopes up. The Neira will be built in Indonesia at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Indonesia. Hyundai said the electric MPV is “designed to address the space and practicality needs of Indonesian families without sacrificing sustainability.”

Although Hyundai could export the MPV to places like India, the Trump Administration’s import tariffs would make it too costly.

Hyundai does offer the all-electric seven-seat IONIQ 9 in the US, which is built at its Metaplant in Georgia.

In other global markets, such as Europe and South Korea, Hyundai also sells the Staria Electric MPV.
