An emotional support cat traveling with two University of Oklahoma graduate students remains missing weeks after escaping at Philadelphia International Airport.
A spokesperson for the airport said the students were traveling through Philadelphia on July 13, 2026, en route to Baltimore for a conference at Johns Hopkins University. They brought Daisy, a Lynx Point Siamese who helps one of the students, Meg, navigate air travel while dealing with an anxiety disorder.
Daisy’s travel crate broke open while the students were on the SEPTA train platform near the C/D parking garages, waiting for an Uber to take them from Philadelphia to Baltimore.
The students said Daisy jumped onto the train tracks, ran away and disappeared.
They searched for Daisy for several days without finding her. Airport public affairs, operations management, police, USDA wildlife and the parking authority were notified.
Efforts included reviewing surveillance video for images of Daisy and notifying various airport entities about the missing cat.
Carmen Brothers of Virginia-based Professional Pet Trackers even joined the search with Finley, a trained scent-searching dog. Brothers and Finley tracked Daisy to an area near the Terminal A East parking structure. Bonnie Wagner-Westbrook, a certified missing animal responder from NJ who specializes in pets lost at airports, also became involved.
A local volunteer named Julie even put up posters around the area and contacted Colleen Bell of Goodboy Dog Recovery, a trapper in the Philadelphia area. The group planned to establish monitored feeding stations to attract Daisy and then use traps to secure her.
But over the course of four weeks, officials said there were no reported sightings of Daisy.
Daisy is described as skittish and prone to hiding.
Officials said a member of the airport police department received information that, around July 18, a Parking Authority employee had been approached by a man who asked what to do with a cat he had found in a parking deck. The employee recommended that the man take the cat to a shelter.
However, no report about the encounter was filed with the Parking Authority, and no information identifying the man or establishing whether the cat was Daisy was collected.
Local shelters have also been alerted about Daisy and asked to notify the search team if a cat resembling her was surrendered.
Daisy is microchipped, and her registration is up to date. According to the information provided, there have been no reports of a cat matching Daisy being taken to a shelter.
If you have any information regarding Daisy’s whereabouts, you are urged to come forward and contact Wagner-Westbrook at 732-735-8345.
Officials said a reward is being offered for the return of the beloved service cat, “no questions asked.”
