HBO Max has renewed its The Big Bang Theory spin-off Stuart Fails to Save the Universe for a second season.

The renewal comes after the series, which is created, written and executive produced by Chuck Lorre, Zak Penn and Bill Prady, became the second-biggest comedy launch ever for an HBO Max original globally, according to HBO.

Produced by Chuck Lorre Productions in association with Warner Bros Television, the series follows comic-book store owner Stuart Bloom, who is tasked with restoring reality after he breaks a device built by Sheldon and Leonard, accidentally bringing about a multiverse Armageddon.

The season one cast included Kevin Sussman, Lauren Lapkus, Brian Posehn and John Ross Bowie.

The show is the fourth entry in The Big Bang Theory franchise, following on from Young Sheldon and Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. In addition to Lorre, Penn and Prady, other exec producers on the series include Kyle Newacheck.
