The results of the latest National Student Survey are in, and it’s a ‘thumbs up’ for Oxford University Computing Laboratory, as well as Oxford University as a whole.

On a university-wide level 93% of final year undergraduates at the University are satisfied with their courses and life. Oxford is ranked joint second (with the Open University) after the University of Buckingham (the UK’s only private university), who had an approval rating of 95%.  91% of Cambridge students declared themselves satisfied.

The survey revealed that 90% of Oxford students surveyed were satisfied with the quality of their Computer Science courses. Computing Laboratory teaching staff are particularly noted for their ability to explain things and make the subject interesting.  Courses are seen as intellectually stimulating and well organized.

Of those who responded, 94% indicated that they received sufficient advice and support during their studies. Each and every student said they had been able to access IT resources, specialized equipment, and facilities when they needed to.

The Survey interviewed 252,000 students and is published by the Higher Education Funding Council to help maintain standards.
