The 29th British National Conference on Databases (BNCOD) has opened, here in Oxford. 

The British National Conference on Databases was established in 1980. Since then, BNCOD has always attracted an international audience to discuss the leading research topics of the day in the field of data, information and knowledge management. The theme of this year's conference is “Big Data”; it encompases a growing need to manage data that is too big, too fast, or too hard for the existing technology.  This, the 29th British National Conference on Databases is being held at the University of Oxford, St. Anne’s College, from 8th to 10th of July 2013.

Keynote speakers at BNCOD 2013 include Dan Suciu (University of Washington) on 'Big Data Begets Big Database Theory', Peter Buneman (University of Edinburgh) on 'The Providence of Provenance' and Christoph Koch (EPFL) on 'Compilation and Synthesis in Big Data Analytics'. 

As in previous years, papers will be published by Springer as a volume in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series.
