Oxford’s Martin Strohmeier and Ivan Martinovic, plus Vincent Lenders (Armasuisse, Switzerland) won the best paper award at the 1st Cyber-Physical System Security Workshop. The winning paper is titled “Lightweight Location Verification in Air Traffic Surveillance Networks”.
Their research developed a realistic threat model for attacks on modern air traffic communication networks and shows that current state-of-the-art countermeasures such as multilateration are insufficient. You can find out more about the research in the latest edition of the Inspired Research magazine: http://www.cs.ox.ac.uk/inspiredresearch/IRsummer2015_pq.pdf
The 1st Cyber-Physical System Security Workshop (CPSS 2015), which was held in conjunction with the 10th ACM Symposium on Information, Computer and Communications Security (ASIACCS'15), took place in April in Singapore.
