An Oxford team has taken third place in the United Kingdom and Ireland Programming Contest (UKIEPC), part of the International Collegiate Programming Contest series.
The UKIEPC took place last Saturday, with 247 teams from 24 British and Irish universities participating.
Our top-performing team solved 12 out of 13 problems in a total time of 1051 minutes, earning them an impressive third place.
The team included:
Hanks Chong (Exeter, 1st year M&CS)
Tsz Oi Ip (Merton, 3rd year M&CS)
Kin Fung Nicholas Ko (Merton, 1st year M&CS)
Another Oxford team was not far behind, solving the same number of problems in 1192 minutes and securing fifth place:
Zhiyi Luo (St Anne's, 3rd year M&CS)
Hugo Domínguez Santana (St Hugh's, 3rd year M&CS)
Shangtong Wu (Oriel, 2nd year M&CS)
The winning team from the University of Cambridge also solved 12 problems, completing them in 910 minutes. Fifteen Oxford teams participated, with a range of strong performances across the board. The final standings are available at https://ukiepc.info/2025/
The top Oxford teams will now go on to compete in the Northwestern European Regional Contest in Germany in November, where they will be aiming to qualify for the World Finals in 2026.
