Another airline is planning to connect passengers with the “fastest WiFi in the sky.”

Frontier Airlines announced Tuesday it will offer Starlink, a high-speed, low-latency Wi-Fi engineered by SpaceX on its aircraft. The Denver-based airline plans to equip its first aircraft in early 2027.

“We’re continuing to invest in the products and services that matter most to our customers,” said Jimmy Dempsey, CEO at Frontier Airlines, in a statement. “Starlink transforms the onboard experience, giving customers the flexibility to work, stream, browse, and stay connected throughout their journey.”

The high-speed internet will be managed directly through a system by Starlink. It will not only connect passengers, but also “provide gate-to-gate connectivity for Frontier’s pilots, flight attendants, maintenance teams, and ground operations,” according to a news release.

It’s unclear whether Frontier Airlines will charge extra for internet service. In a statement, Frontier said it “can only offer that Starlink will provide reliable, high-speed connectivity onboard, while Frontier maintains our commitment to offering low fares.”

International airlines from Indigo Partners, Wizz Air, Volaris, JetSMART and Cebu Pacific are also gearing up to offer Starlink on over 1,000 aircraft. Frontier and other airlines are part of the Indigo Partners portfolio, a private equity fund focused on air transportation.

Frontier joins Southwest Airlines, Alaska Airlines and its Hawaiian Airlines brand, boutique air carrier JSX and United Airlines in offering Starlink connectivity on its planes in the U.S.

Most recently, Southwest Airlines added Starlink to its first aircraft in June, with hopes to equip over 300 planes with the hardware by the end of the year.

Internet access on Southwest flights will be free to members of Southwest’s loyalty program, Rapid Rewards, or can be purchased onboard flights for $8 from takeoff to landing.

Additionally, American Airlines announced plans to add the inflight Wi-Fi service to its Airbus jets beginning in 2027.
