Nawi Island Marina’s participation in the 2026 Tahiti & Moorea Sailing Rendez-vous has opened new opportunities to grow Fiji’s yachting tourism sector, connecting the destination directly with cruising yacht owners, marina operators, and marine tourism stakeholders preparing for the Pacific cruising season.

As part of Nawi Island Marina’s ongoing commitment to strengthening Fiji’s position as a premier yachting destination in the South Pacific, Marina Manager Grace Lee represented Fiji and Nawi Island Marina at the event, held from 2–7 July 2026 in Tahiti. The annual gathering brought together cruising yachts, marina operators, and marine tourism stakeholders from across the Pacific, offering an excellent platform to promote Fiji and its marinas to vessels preparing for their Pacific cruising season.

Ms Lee began her engagement at Papeete Marina, home to 56 berthed yachts, meeting owners and crew and creating valuable opportunities to connect directly with visiting sailors. The following day, Nawi Island Marina set up an information booth at Papeete Marina, engaging with more than 70 visitors from a wide range of international yachts. Over 30 yacht owners visited the booth specifically to learn more about cruising in Fiji, marina locations, and customs clearance procedures.

A key highlight of the event was a meeting with the organiser of the Grand Large Sailing World Rally, a fleet of 23 yachts comprising 20 catamarans and three monohulls. During the meeting, Ms Lee shared relevant yachting information, providing a valuable opportunity to strengthen relationships with rally organisers and further position Fiji as a welcoming destination for cruising yachts.

Participants then gathered at Opunohu Marina for several days of networking, cultural activities, and marina presentations, with representatives from Fiji, New Zealand, and Vanuatu sharing insights on their respective cruising experiences and marina offerings across the Pacific. The final day included a visit to Taina Marina, where Ms Lee engaged further with yacht owners and captains through dock-walking activities, distribution of promotional materials, and discussions on Fiji’s facilities and opportunities.

Nawi Island Marina’s participation in the Tahiti & Moorea Sailing Rendez-vous provided a valuable platform to promote Fiji, connect with the international yachting community, and strengthen Fiji’s presence within the Pacific cruising network. Nawi Island Marina noted that the investment reflects its continued commitment to raising awareness of Fiji’s yachting opportunities and natural beauty on the international stage.
