warcrimesimulator:warcrimesimulator:no actually i don’t think antivaxxers’ kids should die from a disease. i don’t think gun advocates’ kids should die in school shooting. children dying is bad actually, even if they’re children of people you don’t like.I think it does too in many cases, and it’s dehumanization of children- the child is seen like an object that can be damaged or destroyed to punish the adult, their individual humanity not acknowledged. Of course, most people who think this way don’t respect individual humanity of adults either- the problem is ultimately one of collectivism and assigning collective punishment, and that’s a separate ethical debate in itself, but of course involving children will always be uniquely deranged.
I’d argue that those people whose children they wanna see die probably wouldn’t change their beliefs either way. If their kid dies in a school shooting, they’d say oh if only the teacher have had a gun. If settlers attack a village bringing their teenage boys along and they get hurt in the process, that will only strengthen them in their resolve to keep attacking. That the kid wouldn’t have gotten hurt if they didn’t bring it along doesn’t cross their minds. It must be the villagers fault for defending themselves. If a antivaxxer’s kid dies from a disease it’s either god testing their resolve or an assassination by the deep state or the illuminati or whatever rocks their boat.
