STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — A 19-year-old Stafford man was arrested after deputies say he fled the scene of a crash and later admitted he struck another vehicle while racing.
The incident began at approximately 8:14 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, near Parkway Boulevard and Garrisonville Road.
According to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, the victim was traveling eastbound on Route 610 when their vehicle was struck from behind.
Deputies said the other driver fled the scene at a high rate of speed.
Witnesses provided investigators with information about the suspect vehicle.
A short time later, Sgt. Leckemby responded to another crash on Berkshire Drive involving a vehicle matching the description from the earlier hit-and-run.
According to deputies, the driver admitted he had struck the victim’s vehicle on Route 610 while racing.
The driver was identified as Anthony Castro Asencio, 19, of Stafford.
He was charged with felony hit and run and reckless driving.
Castro Asencio was booked into the Rappahannock Regional Jail, where he was held without bond.
The charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
