Eli Lilly is suing six companies in the United States accused of selling illegal versions of the company’s upcoming triple‑acting weight‑loss drug, retatrutide.

Retatrutide, sometimes called “triple‑G,” targets three hormone receptors — GLP‑1, GIP and glucagon — and has shown very strong results in clinical studies, with weight loss of up to 29 percent, according to Eli Lilly.

The drug candidate is currently being evaluated in phase III trials, and an FDA approval application is planned for next year.
