(ECNS) -- The 2026 Zhanjiang Fishing Season Launch Ceremony and "Zhanpin" brand exhibition kicked off on Sunday, with on-site deals worth 5.05 billion yuan (about $749 million) signed across the entire marine fishery industrial chain.

Agreements signed at the event span the entire industry chain, helping create a complete loop "from the deep sea to the dining table."

Wu Guoxiong, vice mayor of Zhanjiang, Guangdong Province, said the city's annual output of golden pompano accounts for 40% of China's total. The output value of Zhanjiang's entire prawn industry chain stands at nearly 30 billion yuan, while annual sales under the regional public brand "Zhanpin" have reached 13.5 billion yuan.

Zhanjiang has ranked first in Guangdong Province in marine fishery output for 30 consecutive years, with the total output value of its entire marine fishery industry chain exceeding 100 billion yuan.

As of July, the city had 40 marine ranching projects in reserve, with a combined planned investment of 18.12 billion yuan. Zhanjiang Bay No. 1, the world's first floating dynamically positioned aquaculture platform, has also completed its first harvest. (By Xu Wenda)
