Sean Duffy’s MAGA Son-In-Law Wants a Seat in Congress. The Internet Wants Answers About His Eyebrows

This story originally appeared on The Advocate.Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy’s son-in-law Michael Alfonso is running for office, but all the internet can talk about is his eyebrows.Alfonso just won the Republican primary in Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District, but instead of focusing on the upcoming election against Democratic former state Rep. Fred Clark, the internet is obsessed with his very prominent and well-groomed eyebrows.Dubbed a “MAGA Warrior” by President Trump, who also endorsed him in January, Alfonso is hoping to take over the seat his father-in-law held before he left Congress in 2020.If the 26-year-old wins the election in November, Alfonso would be among the youngest serving lawmakers. His age, coupled with questions about his relative lack of experience, furthered the claims of nepotism brought on by his marriage to Duffy’s daughter, Evita Duffy-Alfonso. Alfonso’s career has consisted of producing a podcast hosted by former Fox commentator and Trump ally Dan Bongino, who briefly served as Kash Patel's deputy at the FBI, and appearing alongside his father-in-law in Duffy’s as-yet-unaired reality television series.Duffy also donated $1 million from his previous congressional campaign to Alfonso’s campaign, according to reporting by The New York Times.Despite this, the accusations of nepotism and lack of experience are not what everyone is talking about. Instead, people on social media are roasting the young would-be politician for his comically large eyebrows, which political commentator and journalist Don Lemon joked were “on fleek.”His eyebrows are being compared to Burt from Sesame Street fame; other people are pointing out that the person who did his eyebrows must hate him; and then there are the running jokes about his sexuality, much like the ones that plagued Lindsey Graham throughout his career. While completely unsubstantiated, the jokes about him write themselves.
