Дата публикации: 13-08-2026 08:12:33

Fort Worth police have arrested a man on a murder charge in connection with a deadly road rage shooting on Interstate 20 that killed a woman Thursday morning.
The suspect has been identified as 37-year old Patrick Lawrence, who is accused in the shooting death of LaTaivia Davis. The shooting happened in the eastbound lanes of I-20 near Granbury Road just after 6:30 a.m. as rush hour was unfolding on Thursday morning.
Police said when officers arrived at the scene, they found Davis with gunshot wounds still inside her car. First responders attempted life-saving measures on the victim, but she was later pronounced dead.

Officers learned from witnesses at the scene that the victim and the shooter were traveling in the area where they were involved in a road rage situation, police said. Its unknown what exactly led up to the deadly confrontation.
“All I saw was that red car just slam into the median, but the other two gentlemen said that they did hear a gunshot before all of this started,” said Takoda Lewis, one of the drivers behind the victim. “Her right passenger window had been shattered, but still intact enough to be there. I was able to see through it, scream out ‘ma’am’, got no response.”
He told NBC5 he and others stopped to render aid, using tools to shatter the window and applying a tourniquet to stop the bleeding on her wounds, but it was too late.
“I just hope that she knows that she wasn’t alone in her last moments because nobody should have to go out like that,” he said. “It’s just one of those things. If you start thinking about stuff like that, you’ll never go anywhere. It’s just bad time, bad place, bad situation. Some people are just on that last straw. Ready to break at any moment. And that makes me cherish everything I got. I got kids and a wife.”
Everman ISD confirmed Davis was a teacher assistant within the school district.
“The loss of a member of our Everman ISD family is felt throughout our entire school community,” the district said in a statement to NBC 5.
Everman ISD said they are committed to supporting their students and staff are are offering counseling during this difficult time.
Lewis said the shooting has made him question his own actions on the road.
“It really makes you think that at any given time, that life could just be gone and over with, over something so simple as maybe a lane change or a blinker fail, a brake check. It just makes you really want to step back and think and take appreciation of your life because at any moment it’s just gone,” he said.
The incident led to a major freeway shutdown and large-scale homicide investigation that lasted for hours on I-20.
Officers could be seen combing the roadway in a line, looking for evidence while processing the scene.
Fort Worth Police said they plan to release a redacted arrest affidavit on Friday, which may shed more light on the moments leading up to the shooting.
