A Philadelphia man and Camden County woman are accused of using drugs, threats, violence and blackmail to force victims into prostitution in various locations, including Atlantic City.
Tamier Brown-Miller, 26, and Dezeree Smith, 25, were indicted last week, months after their arrests on charges that now include first-degree crimes of racketeering, kidnapping and six counts of human-trafficking.
The Attorney General’s Office is now handling the cases that were in Camden County.
Affidavits of probable cause obtained by BreakingAC tell the story of the alleged physical and psychological torture two victims went through before the pair was arrested Oct. 30.
One of the victims was an underage girl who said Smith introduced her to Brown-Miller in June 2025, and the next month she was being forced into prostitution.
Her age and date of birth were redacted from the paperwork released to BreakingAC.
Brown-Miller would take sexually explicit photos of the girl, and post them on websites advertising escort services, she told police. She also said Brown-Miller had sex with her on three occasions, with the first being consensual.
He faces two additional counts of sexual assault and one count of promoting prostitution of a child as a result of those allegations.
The girl said Brown-Miller also fed her ecstasy pills to keep her up, threatened her with physical harm or blackmail, and would slap her if she did not get up to service clients.
Police noted bruises on the girl’s arms and legs.
Atlantic City police first were alerted Oct. 4, a day after she apparently escaped the pair after Brown-Miller left one of his phones behind with her in an undisclosed motel room, according to the paperwork.
The girl called a friend to come pick her up and bring her home, the report states.
The next day, Brown-Miller allegedly called threatening to post videos to social media of the minor having sex with men if she did not meet him at the Days Inn at Cherry Hill.
It was not clear what happened next.
But the pair would not be arrested until almost four weeks later, when a second alleged victim also would try to break free.
In that case, an adult woman told police she met Smith through TikTok and Instagram in 2023. “Dez” then introduced her to “Mier” at a party he threw at an Airbnb he was renting in Philadelphia.
It was there that “Mier” — Brown-Miller — told her he knew where her family lived, and he would kill them if she did not work for him.
On Oct. 27, the victim was at a 7-Eleven near Brown-Miller’s home when he pulled up in a black tinted-out car driven by a friend whose name is redacted from the affidavit.
Brown-Miller told her to get in the car or he would kill her family, she told police, adding that he was known to have a black Glock handgun in the vehicle at all times, the affidavit states.
She allegedly was taken to the Holiday Inn, and forced into prostitution for two days before the group moved to the Super 8 Motel in Gloucester City, Camden County.
There, the victim said Brown-Miller took her cell phone and posted ads on Listcrawler and Megapersonal that are common sites to solicit sex, the affidavit states.
Smith and Brown-Miller negotiated the prices, then had the victim FaceTime the “tricks,” the woman told investigators.
The “tricks” then would arrive at the motel room, engage in sexual acts with the victim, and then Smith and Brown-Miller would collect the money she was given.
The woman tried to get out Oct. 30, telling one of the “tricks” that she needed help, the affidavit states. Instead, he called Brown-Miller, who came to the motel and punched the victim in the mouth, according to the report.
After that, Smith came to stay in the room while the victim had sex with the men to keep her quiet, the affidavit explains.
Smith eventually gave the woman back her phone and called a ride share to pick her up, telling the victim that if she tried to leave, Brown-Miller would come and shoot her, the report states.
The victim did try to leave the room, leading to a physical altercation with Smith, according to the affidavit.
Residents of the motel intervened and called police.
The 22-count indictment includes a dozen first-degree charges. Smith faces 19 counts. Only Brown-Miller is named in two second-degree counts of sexual assault and one second-degree promoting prostitution with a child.
The case is being prosecuted by Deputy Attorney General Sarah Rizk under the supervision of Deputy Attorney General Kathleen Dillon. The case was investigated by Detective Kara Murphy and the Division of Criminal Justice Human Trafficking Unit.
First-degree crimes carry a sentence of 10 to 20 years in state prison and a fine of as much as $200,000, with first-degree money laundering carrying a $500,000 fine. Second-degree charges carry a sentence of five to 10 years in state prison and a fine of as much as $150,000. Third-degree charges carry a sentence of three to five years in prison and a maximum fine of $15,000.
