CNIITMASH JSC (belonging within JSC Atomenergomash, a machine-building division of ROSATOM) became the first in Russia official partner of Bureau Veritas Exploitation S.A.S (France) involved in welding personnel and procedures certification according to European norms.

Within the frames of the Partnership Agreement, CNIITMASH and Bureau Veritas will work together in certification of personnel and welding technologies according to European standards. To make it possible, in March, the expert committee of Bureau Veritas trained four welding specialist from CNIITMASH: Dmitry Khodakov, Dmitry Praliev, Alexander Abrosin, Konstantin Denisov. The theoretical part of the course was provided in the form of lectures and a final test, and the practical part involved the control of certification procedures for welders using real samples and was held on the basis of CNIITMASH Welding and Technology Center (WTC) – ROSATOM industrial center of competences for welding technologies. With the benefit of training in Bureau Veritas the institute experts gained the right to certify welders and welding procedures as well as the related technical documentation jointly with Bureau Veritas. They are authorized to carry out the above said both at customer’s sites and on the base of WTC.

Presently CNIITMASH is the only organization in Russia participating in welding certification activities according to the standards of Bureau Veritas, observing all in-house regulations of this company and European Norms. From now on, if the company applies for provision of these services in Russia, the request will be handled with the participation of CNIITMASH specialists. “For us it is a great privilege and responsibility,” – says Viktor Orlov General Director of CNIITMASH. “We assume that this is a very promising area that will facilitate the work of Russian suppliers, as everything that is being produced now and will be produced for NPP in Europe must be certified in compliance with European legislation and existing standards. Owing to our agreement with Bureau Veritas, certification of welders and welding procedures in the nuclear industry in Russia will now become easier and faster.”

The Memorandum of Understanding between CNIITMASH and Bureau Veritas was signed in April 2019 at the venue of the Atomexpo Forum. According to the Memorandum, the parties expressed interest in organizing cooperation in the following areas: pooling qualified resources in Europe and Russia to provide potential customers with services in the certification of welding procedures and welders in compliance with international standards, as well as developing and conducting training courses on requirements of European welding standards.
