There’s a stern warning about downloading unauthorised copies of movies online, as illegal flicks are arriving with hidden viruses, including a nasty piece of malware that can swipe your passwords and crypto currency.

While downloading illegal movies is ill advised, criminals are making it worse to change malware to look like they’re a video file. If you’ve succumbed to the temptation, make sure to check your download history and change all your passwords pronto.

Video issues over on the web are one of the week’s big tech stories, but so too are smart TVs, which are under the microscope for tracking what you watch through automatic content recognition (ACR), a technology that serves up targeted ads right on your screen. Most companies allow you to disable ACR in their settings, but the process varies between manufacturers.
