Zeekr 9X, Geely‘s flagship SUV, is facing intense market speculation over an unreleased cabin layout. The rumour gained significant traction after automotive blogger Han Lu shared images of a recently spotted camouflaged vehicle on public road tests. The prominent digital personality has over 9 million followers on Weibo.

The rumoured format transitions the 5.2-meter vehicle into a two-plus-three configuration by swapping the rear seats for a three-passenger bench. This flat-folding bench eliminates seating restrictions, unlocking a massive rear cargo compartment for private daily travel. The front cockpit dashboard displays and core steering controls remain completely unaltered.

Powertrain and battery

The standard production model utilises a sophisticated plug-in hybrid powertrain featuring a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine. It integrates advanced silicon carbide electric motors to deliver a combined maximum output of 1030 kW, equivalent to 1381 horsepower. This architecture channels peak system torque of 1410 Nm for rapid acceleration.

Energy storage leverages CATL ternary lithium Freevoy batteries available in 55.1 kWh or 70 kWh pack sizes. The top-tier option delivers a pure-electric CLTC cruising range of 380 km. Operating on a 900V high-voltage platform, the platform supports 6C fast charging, replenishing the cells from 20% to 80% in 9 minutes.

Dimensions and layout

The vehicle framework metrics measure 5239 mm in length, 2029 mm in width, and 1819 mm in total height. It features an extensive 3169 mm wheelbase, providing a solid foundation for the rumoured alternative cabin format. Speculation suggests the updated variant will add to the standard three-row layout with a two-plus-three configuration.

This rumoured internal modification would eliminate the tiny third row seat assembly completely to establish a flat cargo floor. Dropping the rear seating hardware removes heavy components, optimising overall real-world performance and curb weight distribution. The front cockpit dashboard layout, electronic display monitors, and steering wheel remain completely unaltered.

Domestic sales data

The incoming layout options target the 500,000 yuan (73,590 USD) luxury utility segment to engage affluent multi-vehicle households. Domestic volume data show that retail sales since commercial shipments launched have reached 686 units in September 2025. Deliveries escalated to 3,762 units in October, 8,121 in November, and 9,482 in December.

The current year opened with January registrations at 6,603 units, followed by a localised contraction to 4,878 units in February. Volume recovered rapidly in March 2026, expanding 106.2% MoM to reach a peak of 10,060 retail deliveries. April registrations tracked at 9,315 units, while May volume finished at 9,058 units to secure a stable 32.8% brand share, according to China EV DataTracker.

This sustained retail performance directly underpins readiness metrics for the highly anticipated Zeekr 9X global rollout, with international deliveries commencing this summer. However, this alternative configuration remains purely speculative, lacking official corporate media assets or manufacturer-confirmed production.
