But John Barrowman was left red-faced on Sunday night's Dancing On Ice after he accidentally slapped Ashley Banjo across the face. 

The television personality, 52, was giving feedback to Perri Kiely and Vanessa Bauer in his typical exuberant style when he jumped out of his chair and struck the Diversity dancer, 31, by mistake.   

Spreading his arms wide, John said to Perri: 'I am going to call you on one thing, and I would have given you higher but you are hunching your shoulders'.

After delivering the blow, John looked on in disbelief, while Ashley clutched his nose in pain. 

After reassuring John and the rest of the panel he was alright, Perri's feedback continued. 

Viewers took to Twitter after watching the awkward mishap unfold. One wrote: 'Nooo as if @JohnBarrowman just slapped @AshleyBanjo in the face #Dancingonice.'

Another viewer tweeted: 'Can Ashley smack John back'. 

After topping the leader board with the highest score so far last week, Perri and Vanessa were back trying to improve their personal best.

Performing a steamy routine to Camilla Cabello's Senorita, Perri managed to bag the top score of the series once again.

Ashley poked fun at his see through shirt but admitted the skating appeared effortless as he congratulated his Diversity dance member on his performance.

The couple received 8 from Ashley and 8.5 from the rest of the judges, giving them a total of 33.5.

John has received mainly positive reviews from viewers since he joined the judging panel at the start of the series. 

The actor is no stranger to showing off his skating skills, as he competed in the very first series of Dancing On Ice back in 2006.

The Torchwood star also appeared as a judge on Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical talent shows from 2006 to 2008. 

John found a whole new fanbase and became a regular ITV fixture after he finished third on I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.
