They are loos with quite extraordinary views.

Passengers flying upper class (aka business) on Virgin Atlantic A350-1000 aircraft are able to gaze upon the world from 38,000ft during bathroom visits – because the toilets have windows.

It’s a feature that’s highlighted by airline captain Chris Pohl, who posted a clip of the eye-catching feature to his Instagram feed.

Australian Chris, who has been flying for 42 years and logged over 25,000 flying hours, captioned his clip with the following: ‘It’s the ultimate first-class experience, making those mundane moments truly unforgettable.’

And he told MailOnline Travel: 'I think it’s a very cool feature and I’ve seen passengers posting on Instagram about it.'

One such passenger is Scottish-American actor and singer John Barrowman.

He posted a clip of himself in one of Virgin’s bathroom-with-a-view cubicles, describing the concept as ‘fabulous’.

His clip has had almost 30,000 views.

Delta passengers can also enjoy loo views, as bathroom windows are a feature on the carrier's Airbus A220 planes. 

The airline was the first in the US to take delivery of this new Airbus model. 

Chris, who has 384,000 Instagram followers for his @captainchris account, added: 'I began my Instagram account during the pandemic to promote aviation and support my grounded colleagues. My following grew rapidly due to a captive (locked down) worldwide audience, fascinated by where I was flying to and how we operated safely during the pandemic.

'As pilots returned to the skies I was responsible for much of their simulator and flight training and my daily Instagram posts sent a positive message that aviation was recovering from the pandemic.

'Now that the skies and airliners are full again, I use Instagram to inspire, educate and entertain. I like to inspire young people to consider a career as a pilot, I educate the flying public and answer their questions. And I entertain aviation geeks with fun posts - like the toilet one - worldwide.

'I enjoy posting a positive message every day as it’s become part of my daily life now and it’s also good for my mental health.'
