Unauthorised Website Misusing The UWI’s Name

Дата публикации: 06-07-2026 16:04:12

The Office of Administration at The University of the West Indies (The UWI) wishes to alert all staff—particularly those in Registry, Admissions, and other student-facing units—of the existence of an unauthorised website falsely purporting to be affiliated with the University. Please refer to the accompanying screenshots.
This website is not endorsed, affiliated with, or authorised by The UWI and appears to be using the University’s name and branding without permission, while misrepresenting a relationship with the institution.
The University also advises that the fraudulent website contains a personal data capture form. As this is not an official UWI website it must be underscored that any data submitted such as name, email address, telephone number, or any other personal information via that site is not received by The UWI.
Individuals who may have been affected by the misrepresentation are strongly advised to exercise increased caution regarding any follow-up communications claiming to be from The UWI. They should refrain from sharing additional personal or financial information in response to unsolicited messages and verify all communications exclusively through official University channels.
All legitimate programmes offered by The UWI are published exclusively on its official websites:
Mona Campus, Jamaica: https://www.mona.uwi.edu
St. Augustine Campus, Trinidad and Tobago: https://sta.uwi.edu
Cave Hill Campus, Barbados: https://www.cavehill.uwi.edu
Five Islands Campus, Antigua and Barbuda: https://www.fiveislands.uwi.edu
Global Campus: https://www.global.uwi.edu
Institutional Website, Regional Headquarters: https://www.uwi.edu
Prospective students are encouraged to rely solely on these authorised platforms for accurate and up-to-date information on programmes, admission requirements, and application procedures, and to ensure engagement with verified and accredited UWI offerings.
The UWI is actively addressing this matter as a case of potential misrepresentation, intellectual property infringement and data protection concern. A coordinated, cross-functional response is underway, including collaboration with external authorities in Poland. Formal reports have been submitted, and legal and technical actions are being pursued to facilitate the removal of the site.
Staff are urged to remain vigilant for similar or mirror websites, suspicious enquiries referencing UWI programmes, or any indications of potential student impact. Any reports of interaction, payments, or suspicious communications should be escalated immediately to: oadmin@uwi.edu
