Eleventh Circuit Asked to Order Release of Special Counsel Jack Smith’s Report

Дата публикации: 28-07-2026 07:00:00

ATLANTA—The Knight First Amendment Institute at Columbia University filed its reply brief yesterday in consolidated appeals seeking public access to Special Counsel Jack Smith’s report on President Trump’s alleged mishandling of classified documents after leaving office in January 2021. The filing marks the close of briefing and asks the Eleventh Circuit to reverse the district court’s orders suppressing the report and to direct that a redacted version be made public as part of the court record.
The following can be attributed to Scott Wilkens, senior counsel at the Knight First Amendment Institute at Columbia University:
“The Special Counsel’s report concerns allegations of grave misconduct by President Trump and should be released to the public. Every day that the report stays under seal deprives the American public of the information necessary to judge for themselves the character and fitness of the nation’s highest official. The Eleventh Circuit should reverse Judge Cannon’s orders that are keeping the report secret and direct that it be made public as soon as possible.”
