Vehicle thefts in Whanganui decreased last year but still averaged more than one a day.

In 2025, 380 vehicles were reported stolen in the Whanganui Police Area, according to police data provided to the Chronicle under the Official Information Act.

This was down from 457 reported vehicle thefts in 2024.
