Sweetwater Valley All Stars advance to Little League World Series after routing Hawaii

The Sweetwater Valley Little League all-star team has advanced to the World Series after beating the Kawaihau Community Little League 11-3 Friday evening in the West Region Final.
“We’re really proud of them,” Viviana Aguilar said.
Next up for the Sweetwater Valley all-stars is the Little League World Series in Willamsport, PA next week.
“Next is the World Series. We get a chance to go on the big stage and have an opportunity to win it all for San Diego, for Sweetwater, all those things matter,” David Cisneros said. “A lot of these kids are playing for Sweeter with the aspiration of playing for the Padres one day being Tatis, being Machado. I know for my son specifically, that’s what he looks up to.”
Friday’s game in San Bernardino was a rematch of Sweetwater Valley’s 6-0 victory Tuesday in its most recent game. in that game, Isaac Ramirez pitched a one-hitter and went 2-for-2 and scored twice for the Bonita-based Southern California champions.
Kawaihau Community of Kapaa, Hawaii, the Hawaii state champion, earned its spot in the championship game with a 5-2 victory over the Chandler National Little League all-star team, the Arizona state champion, in an elimination bracket game Wednesday.
Going into the West Region Final, Sweetwater Valley was 14-0 in its four tournaments, outscoring its opponents 103-12, but did have two 2-1 victories in the Southern California State Championship.
With Friday’s win, Sweetwater Valley became the first San Diego County team to win the West Region since 2016 when the all-star team from the Chula Vista-based Park View Little League won.
“They’re going to Williamsport and I can watch it and if they win the whole thing it’ll be amazing,” Jackson Bautista said.
