Billboard caught up with the Grammy-winning R&B singer who shared his thought process getting ready to hit the festival stage.

Durand Bernarr:

I know that it’s a mixed crowd, and so I like to make sure that I’m doing songs that everybody can have access to because I’m good for doing some unreleased stuff. So, and then also things that everyone can, you know, sing along to. You know, I gotta give them the hits. I gotta give them the stuff that’s popular. You know, I don’t want to. Oh, I wish you would have did “Free Fall.” Like, of course we’re gonna do “Free Fall.” I like to move. I do high kicks. We never know. I might stay in this outfit. I might have to put on a tracksuit because it is cold to me. My main thing is that I enjoy myself so that they can enjoy themselves. I like to incite peace. I like to incite perspective. I like to, you know, inspire people to be kind and gentle, you know, with and to themselves. As I say, if I’m in therapy, we in therapy. So my thing is, I like to leave people better than when I found them.
