Telangana is positioning itself not merely to compete with other Indian states but with the world, with the government putting investment, industrial expansion, infrastructure and job creation at the centre of its development agenda, according to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.

In his 80th Indian Independence Day address at the historic Golconda Fort here on Saturday, Reddy said the state had secured ₹1.29 lakh crore in investments through TG-iPASS, with the projects expected to generate more than 78,000 jobs.

Memorandums of Understanding worth ₹5.75 lakh crore were signed at the Telangana Rising Global Summit-2025.

The government plans to host the global summit again this year to showcase Telangana’s investment opportunities to international investors, he said.

The state is also targeting high-growth sectors. “The Next-Gen Life Sciences Policy-2026 seeks to establish Telangana among the world’s leading life sciences clusters, while new opportunities are being pursued in semiconductors, electronics and advanced manufacturing,” he added.

Industries

Under the Hyderabad Industrial Lands Transformation Policy (HILT Policy-2025), the government is reorganising old industrial areas to reduce pollution and facilitate the relocation of industries to new industrial zones.

Telangana is simultaneously expanding its global technology footprint. IT exports reached ₹3.97 lakh crore in 2025-26, while direct IT employment rose to 12.14 lakh.

“More than 355 Global Capability Centres (GCCs) are currently operating in Hyderabad, with 40 new GCCs established in the city in 2026 alone,” the Chief Minister said.

The state is also emerging as a major destination for data centres, cloud computing and artificial intelligence.

Amazon has announced an additional $7 billion investment in Telangana, while a large hyperscale, AI-ready cloud infrastructure campus is being developed in the Bharat Future City and Chandanvelly areas, he added.

The government has launched a broad infrastructure programme aimed at strengthening road, rail, air and logistics connectivity across Telangana.

A 360-kilometre Regional Ring Road around Hyderabad is among the flagship projects. The state is also advancing 6,092 kilometres of roads under the Hybrid Annuity Model and radial road networks, Reddy said.

Expansion of Hyderabad’s mass-transit system is another priority. Under Metro Rail Phase-2, the government has formulated plans to add 122.9 kilometres across seven corridors, headed.

Air connectivity is also being strengthened, with the revival of Mamunoor Airport and development of a joint-use airfield in Adilabad accorded high priority.

“The objective is to build infrastructure capable of supporting Telangana’s ambitions as a globally competitive investment and industrial destination,” he said.
