ATHENS, Ohio (WOUB) – The Athens Art Guild will celebrate the grand opening of its new headquarters at 667 E. State St. in Athens from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30.

Located in the white house in front of the Athens Community Center, the facility will provide the organization with a permanent space for art classes, events and exhibitions. The building previously housed the Athens Tourism Board.

The grand opening will feature art vendors on the lawn, light refreshments and live acoustic music from Spence Terrel and Tony Adami of Rusted Blues, along with John Geottge. The event will also mark the opening of a gallery shop featuring work by local artists.

At its new headquarters, the Athens Art Guild plans to offer affordable art classes for all ages, art fairs and special events, including a Halloween Night Market and the return of the Krampus Parade. The space will also provide guild members with opportunities to display and sell their artwork and connect with the community.

The new headquarters was made possible with support from the City of Athens and its Department of Arts, Parks and Recreation.

Established in 2010, the Athens Art Guild works to promote the visual arts in Athens County and neighboring Appalachian counties through networking, training and vending opportunities.
