It's that time again! The D23 Expo is unfolding in Anaheim, California, and the convention will be packed with everything Disney. Movies, TV shows, theme park developments, merchandise, and more will be announced and teased at the event through panels and booths on the show floor, and fans will have plenty to sink their teeth into. However, if you're unable to be on the ground in Anaheim, we'll be updating you on all the important movie and TV show announcements for Disney Animation, Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, 20th Century Studios, and Disney+.

Starting at 10pm ET / 7pm PT, the D23 Expo will unveil the Disney Entertainment Showcase, where they will announce and hype up forthcoming projects in film and television. We're expecting some announcements for the movies and TV shows from "Star Wars" and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including some hopeful X-Men news, as well as the next wave of Pixar and Disney animated movies, some Disney+ shows, and likely some surprises as well.

Our coverage will begin shortly before the panel starts. /Film's Ethan Anderton will be in the room to give us as many details as possible in a live blog, so keep up with all the latest updates below.

Active
We're Live! New posts will appear automatically.

  • The sky lights up like the Northern Lights, but pink and blue. A snowflake butterfly flies through Arendelle until it crystallizes as a chunk of ice, maybe the frozen heart.

Elsa grabs it, Anna and Kristoff show up with Olaf and Sven.

"Is our wedding being crashed?" The ice chunk opens up a portal in front of them. Anna picks up her wedding dress, and marches into the new world

It's a frozen environment with icy blue flowers, and it's sparkly as sun shines through the crystal structures that form threes, franches, bushes, and more.

Suddenly, the butterfly moves towards a flutter of other ice butterflies. And a hand reaches out to snatch it and break it.

She taunts Anna and Elsa, and she's clearly a villain.

  • The gang finds themselves from from Arendelle, and it's more dangerous than anything Elsa has ever created.

But it's not just the usual crew. We're watching a tease now.

  • I'm not sure if Samantha is real or if this is a gag. Seems like it could go either way. Maybe I'm just delirious at this point.

  • In this new adventure, love is in the air. Even for Olaf? That's right. Josh Gad comes out, he's got a mustache, and he's singing his own song now about a Snow-woman named Samantha.

She's the answer to whatever is wrong. He loves how she looks and skates, he feels totally great. He'll give her his heart and hand. It's a cheesy love ballad reminiscent of the 1970s. Backup singers join Josh now for the chorus.

  • Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel are joking about the audio glitch, and Kristen particularly had a challenge.

Now they're talking about the world of Frozen 3 being a bit more mysterious.

Anna and Elsa are going on their biggest journey yet. It all unfolds during Anna's honeymoon with Kristoff, who she's finally marrying.

  • Idina and Kristen are singing a new song. "Cut through the heart, cold and clear, strike for love and strike for fear."

"Split the ice apart, beware the frozen heart."

It sounds like an old folk song. They're still singing the tune. They end on singing about a cursed frozen heart, so that's likely the plot device of the movie.

  • There's been a glitch, but the audience is cheering. Music played and stopped, but it's playing again. The stage screen opens, and Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel walk out.

  • Now it's time for things to get chilly: Frozen 3

  • Queen Celeste is a tough witch who you do not want to cross. She wears a pink, flowery cloak and a derby style hat. She looks quite stuck up.

  • Jodie Foster has taken the stage, and she's so excited to return to Disney, where her career began as a child with movies like Candleshoe and the original Freaky Friday. But she's never voiced a Disney character until now.

  • Billie is grounded by her over-protective mother Alice. While in her room, she starts seeing sparks on her hands, and a magical portal opens in her room, sucking her through a branch-filled tube.

She meets a talking book and quill. "Are you searching for a place you truly belong?"

    "My whole life.

Hexed is a world of witches. Billie is a witch. Get it?

"This is no ordinary child." Other witches are worried about her powers. She's ont he run from a dangerous queen of witches, voiced by Jodie Foster.

Suddenly, the cat appears from a trailer, he's green-haired and has three eyes. He says to just call him beef. It's a Southern drawl as only Walton Goggins can deliver.

He puts on sunglasses and says, "Let's ride," ready to drive.

  • Hailee Steinfeld's character Billie finds herself in a world of magic, and she learns she has powers that are bigger than she understands.

But she gets some help from an animal voiced by Walton Goggins, a witch's favorite companion, a cat named Beef Roger Crumjaw? Not sure about that last name. Time for some footage.

  • Now it's time for Hexed, coming this November.

An unconventional teenage girl finds out she isn't exactly what she thought she was.

Hailee Steinfeld voices the character, and she's taking the stage now.

  • Jared Bush says, "What if the next Disney mentor stunk?"

His name is Flip, and his first student is a ball of clay named Mooshy (spelling?) He's inescapable and pure chaos, and Flip must keep him alive through a fantastical forest.

Kieran Culkin is playing Flip. Arrives November 2028.

  • Disney announcing a new animated feature called Clay now.

  • They're playing the post-credits scene from Zootopia 2, and they've just announced Zootopia 3 with a tease of birds coming.

A bird talon stepped on a newspaper that says Hopps and Wilde will return. Gary is coming back too!

  • Jared Bush is taking the stage now for the Disney Animation portion of the showcase.

  • A kid walks into a garage, finds a ship under a tarp. Gosling says, "Didn't I tell you not to touch anyhing?"

It's the fastest starfighter ever built. Kid never heard of it. "There's a reason for that."

Shots of new planets. a big ship escaping a fire, Gosling jumping across a retracting bridge in an action sequence.

We see Gosling pull the tarp off, and then he's speeding in the air in the ship.

Lots of action shots. Difficult to see details, but it at least looks really cool. Crowd reaction wasn't big. Nothing super recognizable, but maybe that's a good thing?

  • They're showing off his charcter's symbol on a jacket. It's an upside down Rebel Alliance symbol with crossbones underneath it.

Ryan Gosling's character, Kade Auberon, is from the wrong side of the universe, and his fate is entwined with the fastest ship in the galaxy.

  • Ryan Gosling says he owes a lot to Disney. If they didn't come to his hometown, he wouldn't be here today. It's changing his life again.

  • They're playing a video of young Ryan Gosling from his days on The Disney Channel. Amazing.

  • It's coming out the same weekend that the original Star Wars did 50 years previously.

  • Shawn Levy is taking the stage now for Star Wars: Starfighter!

  • Ahsoka Season 2 is coming, and Rosaro Dawson, Eman Esfandi and Hayden Christensen are on stage.

She has to answer the question: Are you or are you not a Jedi?

Ezra is back with his Rebels friends, and he's fighting against the Imperial Remnant.

Time for a teaser trailer. This should be online quickly.

  • Now it's time for Star Wars!

  • The X-Men cast just met back stage for the first time.

    Kit Connor as Cyclops
Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier
    Samara Weaving as Emma Frost
    Inde Navarrette is Rogue
    Maya Boyd is Storm
Adam Driver is joining the cast too, interesting:

  • Feige says they're not here to talk about Spider-Man. Sadie says they're here to talk about X-Men. A yellow X-Men logo appears on the screen.

Director Jake Schreier is here. Says we'll follow Jean Grey's story to a new version of the X-Men coming on May 5, 2028.

  • Sadie Sink is taking the stage. Time for some X-Men action. Feige said they had to wait for Spider-Man: Brand New Day to come out. Here we go!

  • Victor was always the smartest guy in every room. Sue Storm is saying this. He used to be kind, he used to be caring.

But then everything he loved was taken from him. I knew he was lost, but I did not realize that he was broken.

Doom looks ominously. A city is burning. Reed asks, "Victor did you do this?"

Doom: "All of you have lived storied lives, now you must give them back."

Reed: "Answer me! Did you do this?"

Thor tries to strike him down, and Doom stops him, blasts him back with green energy, summons an army of sentinels.

Downey gets the final line. "I am Doom."

  • They say Steve Rogers was so close to getting his happy ending, but he should have known better.

    Footage just for us now.

  • Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, and Robert Downey Jr. are taking the stage now.

  • But are Deadpool and Wolverine in the movie? Unclear. Fingers crossed.

  • Hugh Jackman appears on screen, and Ryan Reynolds is interrupting off-screen about Deadpool and Wolverine not being in the movie.

Jackman is forced to ask Feige if they need up. Reynolds encourages him to ask if they can round out the cast. "Follow the f**king script."

  • Time for Avengers: Doomsday, bringing together the Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four.

  • Feige is talking about Avengers: Engame Encore now. But the lights turn green and a Green "A" window lights up the screen, and we see Doom on the throne.

  • Now they're showing a trailer for the new Wolverine video game. It's coming in September. Go look it up. This is exhausting! It's a fun job, but it's still a job. Cypress Hill.

  • They're showing the first trailer for VisionQuest now. This should be online quickly.

  • Ultron is back, and he and Vision are going to figure out humanity together.

  • This Vision is starting to ask more complicated questions. What or who is he? What makes us human? That brings us to Ultron.

  • Paul Bettany recalls Vision's journey in the MCU so far, having conveniently died several times. But no one is ever really dead in the Marvel universe.

  • Kevin Feige says they're closing out a trilogy of shows with VisionQuest.

Paul Bettany and James Spader take the stage. In the flesh.

  • Kevin Feige taking the stage now for Marvel Studios.

  • Nature gave them an incredible story, and it started to feel familiar. Hans Zimmer was inspired by what they captured, and he joined the project to compose the music for the documentary project, a four-part series that arrives on August 20.

  • Jon Favreau is talking about a National Geographic project he's been working on for four years called Lion. Respect.

  • Apparently the crowd is getting collectible Oswald cards that are only available here. 10 in all, four to a pack. We're getting a pack on the way out! Swag!

The cards will unlock an AR experience through a QR code that they created in Disneyland. Neat!

  • A beautifully animated Oswald creeps around the Disney offices. The rendering and the lighting is incredible, makes me want to see what Who Framed Roger Rabbit would look like today with a sequel. It's a bit more dreamy in the footage than something like Chip N Dale.

Oswald creeps around Walt Disney's preserved offie in broad daylight, sun shining through the windows. He spins one of those wheels that creates a moving picture. I forget what it's called right now.

He jumps around the piano, hits the notes from "Wish Upon a Star." Thats it!

  • Time for a quick glimpse of Oswald.

  • They only used hand-drawn 2D animation to bring Oswald to life. The fans are loving this. And they brought back a bunch of old school animators to do it.

  • Disney got the rights back, and he's popped up here and there. Favreau has always been intrigued by Oswald, and he and Lion King lead animator Andy Jones talked about telling his story.

    It's a three-part miniseries coming this February to Disney+.

  • Favreau is here to talk about Oswald, and the fans are very excited about this.

The character was created before Mickey Mouse, but Walt lost the rights to the character.

  • Jon Favreau has taken the stage. The crowd loves this guy too. He gets cheers that aren't as loud as Kathryn Hahn's, but it's a lot of love.

  • Kathryn Hahn taking the stage now, talking about Mother Gothel as one of the best villains.

They've been shooting in Spain. Cast is saying hello from the set in full costumes, but not in character.

They show off a lot of practical locations, castles forests and whatnot.

  • Lanterns start floating around the arena. We see a quick shot of Rapunzel in the new live-action Tangled.

Kathryn Hahn says her name and then walks around a door. The crowd is losing their minds for Kathryn Hahn. Loudest cheers by far. She is our queen.

  • London Spring 2027 at Theatre Royal Drury Lane for The Greatest Showman: The Musical.

  • You know what, I'm gonna take a break right now. I've been typing so much. But there are some incredible gymnasts and vocalists on stage performing. Good for them. This soundtrack rules. The movie is weird. Back shortly.

  • We're getting a live performance from The Greatest Showman: The Musical now. Is this the greatest show? Let's see.

  • Scrat is fighting with a tiny acorn stuk in the snow as a baby squirrel looks on with huge eyes. A volcano erupts and puts them in danger. The baby squirrel easily grabs the tiny acorn, but now they sailing down a river of lava, and Scrat is getting hurt all over again.

Now he smells a GIANT acorn. Like a huge nut. I know, this is a kids movie. He burrows under it to pick it up, the tiny squirrel is amused, but then a massive prehistoric squirrel picks it up.

Some quick shots show the rest of the gang in the lost world, which looks colorful and has some sticky green goo in it.

  • Scrat will be back to kick off the new movie, but there's a new companion too.

It's time for a new look at the sequel.

  • Diego and the whole gang are going to unseen corners of the treacherous lost world. Will Ian Malcolm be there? I doubt it.

  • Ice Age is back now! Acorns, dinosaurs, lava! Ice Age: Boiling Point has it all!

Denis Leary and Queen Latifah are here for the presentation. They do not have acorns.

  • Bluey arrives August 26, 2027. Take your kids. Do it.

  • Bluey and Bingo are booping a ballon into the sky, and they try to not let it touch the ground, but it immediately does. And then they run away before it pops.

The title hits! That's it! Bluey! Wow!

  • It's time for The Bluey Movie! Everyone loves Australian dogs! They're showing a teaser trailer.

  • That's it. The camp is done rocking.

  • I gotta say, knowing almost nothing about Camp Rock, these songs are pretty damn catchy.

  • They're bringing out the new cast members from Camp Rock 3 for a live performance. It certainly seem like this camp rocks. They keep saying "Camp Rock" over and over again, so I have to believe them.

  • There's a whole new generation of campers, and they're competing for a chance to open up for Connect 3 on their new tour.

  • The Jonas Brothers are taking the stage. They are pop stars. You know them from their hit songs and the Camp Rock franchise. But they acknowledge it's been a minute. Well, a couple decades.

  • Camp Rock 3 sets the audience on fire now!

  • Footage shows the Olympians and the Titans. Percy hopes to stop the war. Apparently love will be the key to stopping the war.

Percy loses his love interest. Sorry, I haven't watched the show or read the books. But "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" adds some life to the trailer.

A rusty giant walks up and stands in front of Percy and his friends in a junkyard. Surely fans know who this is. Sorry I'm not familiar. I'm a bad person.

  • The Titan's Curse will be the plot of the new season. Stakes are higher and story is darker. He's going to face off with all the gods in the Empire State Building.

Athena (Andra Day) and Hera (Ming-Na Wen) are here to discuss.

Artemis is joining the roster, some powerful new demigods, and a powerful titan waiting to make their move. Percy is also learning to drive apparently.

  • Now it's time for some gods and monsters with Percy Jackson.

Some archers take the stage, pretend to fire at the screen filled with snow. It falls away to tease the third season of the show.

A massive trident appears in the center of the arena with series star Walker Scobell under it.

  • "It's been a minute, but we've been super busy," Michele says.

They own their own boutique in Los Angeles. They're entering a new phase of their lives, and they want to find true love. Will they find it? We have to find out.

They wonder if they'll find love at D23. Then they realize they're officially Disney Princesses.

  • It's time to talk about Romy and Michele 2. And the inventors of Post-Its are here to talk about it!

  • Maia Kealoha takes the stage for a new Lilo & Stitch movie. Stitch joins him, but Maia lost him. Stitch says hi from the screen, he's mad about the light-up bracelet that everyone was given.

Suddenly Angel appears, the pink Experiment 624.

    The sequel comes May 2028.

  • Nero comes to a door, another cat asks for a password. The cats do their strange yowling as the password. The crowd loves that.

This is a trailer style clip. Rocco reminds Nero, "We used to be tigers!"

Nero comments on humans being superstitious. Cops are chasing him through the streets. Nero gets into all sorts of chases.

This looks delightful. Animation is just stunning.

  • We're getting a second clip from Gatto now too.

  • Pigeons are organizing in a Venice town square. They're mad about spikes that keep the birds off balconies. Pretty funny.

The violin starts playing from a street performer. The finger movements look outstanding.

Nero is watching from a rooftop, he's trying to figure out how to get the violin. He considers using the pigeons to help him. Saaerio is the lead pigeon, and he's going to help distract the performer.

Nero creeps down to the ground, he signals Saverio, who dives at the performer full speed, but flies straight into a billboard with a woman on it instead. Nero is not pleased.

    Animation style looks great!

  • Nero works for Rocco in Gatto, and we're getting an extended clip from the movie.

Nero is looking for a priceless violin for Rocco. But he needs back-up.

  • Now Gatto is prancing on stage for Pixar. Not a real cat though.

  • Watching something mysterious now. A boy wanders through a dark, seedy shop with a food bar. He asks to no one, "Do you guys take, like, Apple Pay?"

A ramen bowl floats on the bar, and then the camera shoots from the back at the kid, and he screams.

It's a movie called Ghost Market. The kid says it's not like some of those other scary movies. Coming in spring 2028.

The kid is really funny and charming, a content creator from Chicago, and he's forced to go on vacation to Hawaii. His hunt for a late night snack leads him to discover the crossroads of the living and the dead.

It's Pixar diving into the supernatural, according to Pete Docter

  • Kingdom Hearts is also becoming a TV series on Disney+, but no extra details were given!

  • The Coco 2 tease turns into a Kingdom Hearts tease, showing off the Land of the Dead as a level in the game. They're announcing Kingdom Hearts IV in 2027. Coco will be part of it.

  • Ernesto de la Cruz wants revenge, but Miguel's abuela will help him in the afterlife.

  • Bratt will be back as Ernesto de la Cruz in Coco 2. The sequel picks up a few short years after the first movie. Miguel is a bit older, a teenager with a new haircut and Ernesto's guitar on his back.

  • Benjamin Bratt is taking the stage to discuss Coco 2. Remember him?

  • Coco 2 is next on Pixar's presentation roster. Returning to the Land of the Dead in 2029. Director Lee Unkrich and co-director Adrian Molina are back.

  • Bob Odenkirk's character from Incredibles 2 has started Superhero League (SHL), and the kids are taking the spotlight this time. They've all been sneaking out to fight crime at night. Jack-Jack is even more unpredictable now.

Bob will have to reconcile a world of younger superheroes. Him and the family will have to face off against a supervillain with more power than all the family put together.

But Edna Mode interrupts to stop him. She's back too.

  • Title treatment for The Incredibles 3 hits the screen! Arrives in summer 2028. Docter says it's "rounding out the trilogy" of the Parr family.

  • Pete Docter mentions Pixar's 40th anniversary this year. Shows a picture of himself from the very first Toy Story. And he thanks everyone for making Hoppers and Toy Story 5 a success.

  • Bergman is bringing out Pete Docter, the 10th employee of Pixar Animation turned Chief Creative Officer. Let's see what Pixar has cooking!

  • Alan Bergman, Disney co-chairman takes the stage. now.

  • Homer is at a baseball game with his co-workers. He's cheering, "Make Homer rich!" The theme from The Natural plays. A home run gets bounced around by fan interference all over the field. Homer chases it all through the stadium, through the bathrooms, through the suites, surfs on Pimple Faced Kid on a river of oil.

The chase takes to the streets, a helicopter reporter follows, we cut to Moe's and the ball breaks through the glass, Homer still chasing. He catches it, but only for a moment. It bounces to the bowling alley, Homer climbs out through the ball return after sliding down the alley.

The ball keeps bouncing, goes to the Duff beer factory. So many town people are chasing it with him. Homer swims through the beer tanks, it shoots him back to the field, and the ball bounces and lands at Bart's feet. Homer says D'oh, and all the other people do too.

  • We're about to get a peek at rough footage of The New Simpsons Movie.

  • The New Simpson Movie is up first. That's the title of the sequel.

  • Dana Walden brings out Bart Simpson on the giant screen!

  • Anne just introduced Disney President Dana Walden!

  • Anne Hathaway says they're working very hard to get The Princess Diaries 3 right. And she's proud to be a Disney Legend this year.

  • Anne Hathaway is throwing it back to The Princess Diaries, so it sounds like we're gonna be talking about the next sequel.

  • Anne Hathaway demands louder cheers form the crowds! Give it up for Mother Mary!

  • Josh has brought out Disney Legend Anne Hathaway.

  • "We're not here waiting for the future. We're building it," Josh says. So let's get down to it!

  • Josh paying tribute to the Disney superfan Frank, known as the Mayor of Main Street. Sadly, he passed away, but he's been honored with a plaque on his bench in the park. That's just lovely.

  • Josh D'Amaro came to work at Disney in 1998. DId you know that? He called it a home. But hopefully he didn't live there.

  • Josh D'Amaro is sharing an early memory from being at Disneyland. He says this place is magic, and that feeling didn't fade. It's become part of who he is.

  • It's his first D23 since becoming CEO of Disney, and the crowd cheered for him. Bob Chapek is somewhere shedding a single tear.

  • Disney CEO Josh D'Amaro is taking the stage now. The people are cheering for him. They love executives!

  • Apparently they're Disney superfans. They're just like us!

  • Ginnifer Goodwin and Ke Huy Quan are taking the stage as our hosts!

  • The crowd goes wild as the Disney castle logo graces the screen. They're eating it up like afredo pizza.

  • I never knew I needed a remix of "Friend Like Me" from Aladdin and "The First Time in Forever" from Frozen and a whole squad of dancers until right now.

  • A bunch of dancers just entered the arena while one of the songs from Zootopia is playing during the montage of dancing sequences. People are hyped! That's Disney magic and a good beat!

  • Beginning with a sizzle reel featuring a bunch of different movies and TV shows from the past. Some shots of recent releases too. Love a good montage.

  • All right, we're starting!

  • They've given us a piracy warning, but now they're trying to get the audience to do the wave. When God closes a door, he opens a window, I guess.

  • They're currently playing the Hannah Montana song "The Best of Both Worlds," and not "All I Need is a Miracle." For me, the best of both worlds is a pizza with both sausage and pepperoni. I'm a simple guy. But have you ever had a pizza with alfredo sauce? Give it a shot!

  • We're hearing that the delay is due to wheeling in Walt Disney's frozen head for the presentation. Okay, we're not hearing that, but could you imagine?

  • The DJ kept asking the audience for requests through a QR Code. I requested "All I Need is a Miracle" by Mike and the Mechanics. They haven't played it. So I'm not in a great mood. Disney has an uphill battle, folks. You might say, all they need is a miracle.

  • All right, the panel should have started, but it hasn't. So stay tuned. Hopefully any minute now. Talk amongst yourselves. Here's a topic: Everybody wants Star Wars, but no one ever demands Star Peace.

  • While we're waiting, did you hear Ahsoka Season 2 will be coming to Disney+ on January 20?

  • Did you see this post from earlier today?

Avengers: Doomsday is getting the spotlight at Disney's D23, and it seems Doctor Doom will have more than a single costume in the film. https://t.co/m7iy0HuFCQ

    — /Film (@slashfilm) August 14, 2026

What will we find out from Marvel Studios tonight? It's almost time!

  • You've got 18 minutes until the panel starts. Assuming the House of Mouse is on time. That's enough time to air fry some chicken nuggets or pizza bites! I wish I had a snack right now. But I'm stuck here, and it's all for you. IT'S ALL FOR YOU!

  • Fun Fact: Disney's Entertainment Showcase is taking place at the Honda Center, which was built from hundreds of repurposed Honda Odyssey vans. How about that?
