Fractal Analytics on Friday launched India’s first reasoning model with a focus on healthcare under the IndiaAI Mission, with beta testing starting off in Mumbai.

The pilot in partnership with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will provide a Health AI Chatbot on WhatsApp powered by Vaidya AI over the next few weeks. The model will integrate datasets starting with six places in Mumbai, including two large hospitals, to streamline citizen access to immediate healthcare information. The initiative will eventually be implemented across various BMC facilities, from dispensaries to major hospitals including KEM, with a privacy-first architecture.

The chatbot will also support clinical workflows and strengthen public health decision-making at scale.

“The health information and the accuracy of the health information is very high. We are competing with Frontier AI Labs globally. The model will give you information to anything that helps you answer your queries but it is not a replacement for a doctor. It won’t do diagnosis,” said Suraj Amonkar, Chief AI and Research Officer, Fractal.

Using this chatbot, users can receive AI-generated easy-to-comprehend summaries of laboratory reports in English and Marathi among other languages. It will also identify nearby BMC healthcare facilities based on their healthcare needs and provide trusted health and wellness information anytime through a conversational interface.

Further, the chatbot seeks to provide AI-guided pre-consultation support for doctors to highlight patient complaints, self-reported medical history and medication details before a consultation in future. This will include follow-up queries by the LLM on the ailments flagged by the patient. Further it will provide a Public Health Intelligence Dashboard for healthcare administrators with anonymized, aggregated insights from laboratory reports, to flag emerging health trends across the city. BMC’s healthcare network handles more than 16.8 million OPD visits and generates over 3 million laboratory reports annually.

Fractal has built Vaidya.ai which is world’s first AI model to score above 50 on OpenAI’s HealthBench (Hard), outperforming GPT-5 and Gemini Pro 3. The model combines multilingual and multimodal capabilities with Responsible AI principles.
