Erlanger Health on Tuesday unveiled the Children's Hospital Land of Enchantment, known as CHLOE, a new outdoor play space at Children's Hospital at Erlanger designed to give patients a place to step outside their hospital room and simply be kids again.

Officials said, "For a child facing a serious illness, some of the hardest days of treatment no longer have to happen only within four walls. CHLOE gives children in Erlanger's care a safe, inclusive space filled with flowers, colorful play structures and large murals celebrating everything that makes Chattanooga home.

The space was designed so that even patients with limited mobility or medical equipment can take part, giving every child the chance to play, breathe fresh air and feel like themselves, even while receiving care."

"CHLOE happened because people believed in it and gave to make it real," said Jim Coleman, president and CEO of Erlanger. "When a family is going through the hardest days of their lives, this place gives them a few minutes to just be a family again. That's worth everything."

The project was made possible entirely through donations and community investment. Erlanger thanks Chris and Emma Fuller, Tripp and Barbara Brown, James and Jane Pratt, Sam and Carol Campbell, PlayCore and Barn Nursery for their generosity and partnership in bringing CHLOE to life. The murals throughout the space were created by local artist, Olivia Reckert.

"Every child who comes to CHLOE will feel it immediately: this space was made just for them," said
Debbie Spielman, CEO of Children's Hospital and Women's Services at Erlanger. "Olivia Reckert's murals bring so much joy and color to this space. It's a wonderful example of our community coming together and bringing their talents for good."

"We wanted kids going through something so hard to have a place that feels like pure joy," said Chris
Fuller, one of the project's donors, whose family chose to give in honor of the children treated at
Erlanger's Children's Hospital. "Seeing CHLOE finished and full of life is everything we hoped it would
be."

CHLOE is located on the third floor of Children’s Hospital at Erlanger and is now open to patients and their families to enjoy.
