At age 57, the star previously credited her flawless skin to regular sunscreen and olive oil, insisting in 2020 that she’d never gotten Botox.
But in more recent years, people have speculated about what J.Lo’s complexion actually looks like after comparing unfiltered, unedited photos of her with what she posts on Instagram.
In 2023, an apparent social media fail appeared to expose J.Lo’s “real skin” — which looked amazing — after a TikTok filter seemingly glitched mid-video.
And this contrast was made even clearer the following year, when Jen looked noticeably more enhanced in her Instagram photos from the Met Gala compared to unedited Getty pictures from the event.
As social media users have continued to draw attention to J.Lo’s real skin, self-proclaimed Photoshop expert Caroline Ross recently shared unedited photos of the star at different Hollywood events and wrote: “Unfiltered skin, real texture, and zero photoshop. Jennifer Lopez looks incredible - she looks human. We’ve been conditioned to view normal skin texture, fine lines, and natural lighting as 'flaws' because smoothed-out campaign images are the default.”
With this context in mind, it was surprising — and refreshing — to see real skin texture in J.Lo’s recent Instagram photos.
Posing in her bra and underwear, Jen bared a lot of skin in the racy Aug. 10 photoshoot — and a close look shows that she seemingly avoided erasing the natural skin texture on her legs. Unfortunately, we don’t have the rights to post the professional image, but you can view it here.
Some Reddit users picked up on the texture, with one person writing, “I love that she doesn’t edit her legs smoother.”
“Me too, that first pic is so natural/ unedited,” someone else replied.
The image in question was taken while Zendaya was being interviewed at the NYC premiere of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey on July 14.
“one of the best things today's celebrities do is occasionally showing that they're human too, by processing most things and thereby exposing unrealistic beauty standards, which opens the door to embracing yourself even more,” one user wrote, while others noted that they felt super seen thanks to the unedited picture.
