Gland Pharma appoints Dr Reddy’s senior executive Deepak Sapra as CEO

Gland Pharma has appointed Deepak Sapra as its new chief executive officer, with the pharma company saying he will assume charge from November 16, 2026, subject to his acceptance of the offer.

The appointment was approved by the company's board based on the recommendation of its Nomination and Remuneration Committee, Gland Pharma said in a regulatory filing on Friday.

Sapra has 27 years of executive experience, including more than 23 years in the pharmaceutical industry. He currently serves as CEO – API and Services at Dr Reddy's Laboratories and is a board member of Aurigene Pharma Services.

At Dr Reddy's, Sapra is responsible for global portfolio strategy and leads an integrated B2B business covering generic pharmaceuticals, CDMO services, APIs, collaborations and alliances, public health and global patient access.

He has experience across business development, licensing, mergers and acquisitions, portfolio creation and market expansion across India and major international markets, including the US, Europe, Japan, Latin America, Africa and Asia-Pacific. His experience spans areas including CDMO partnerships, generics, APIs, sales and marketing, supply chain, R&D and operations.

Before his current role, Sapra served as CEO – Custom Pharmaceutical Services, where he led a global CDMO business serving innovator pharmaceutical companies in the US, Europe and Japan. Between 2011 and 2015, he held senior leadership roles in global generics business development and portfolio management.

Sapra holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Indian Railways Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Jamalpur, and a master's degree in management from IIM Bangalore. He has also been a Chevening Scholar at the University of Bradford and a Fulbright Fellow at Carnegie Mellon University.
