In a video blog detailing his experience, the professional golfer said even the views on the road from Calgary to Banff are “incredible,” setting high expectations for arrival at the golf course.

“I feel like I’m in Narnia,” he said, pulling up to the Fairmont Banff Springs hotel.

Looking through the window of his hotel room, he appeared amazed at the view and said it’s “crazy” to think about playing golf on the course.

The video, captioned The World’s Most Beautiful Golf Course, has garnered more than one million views on YouTube in less than 24 hours.

Getting set up on Banff Springs Golf Course, Dechambeau, who also visited the Silvertip Resort course in Canmore while in Alberta, was in awe of the mountainous backdrop.

“There’s not many times I get on a golf course and just smile at the first tee,” he said.

The course offers two simple things for a perfect golf vacation, according to its website:

“First, a breathtaking view in every direction and second, a magnificent layout that thrills every golfer fortunate enough to spend a day here.”

Throughout his round, Dechambeau repeated his love of the mountain view. He also praised the maintenance of the course.

The environment was incredible, he said, so much so that it could be distracting.

“Every tee box is surprising me more than the last,” he said, explaining that usually the course is the star, but in Banff, the scenery was pulling him towards it.

Reaching the course’s fourth hole, The Devil’s Cauldron, Dechambeau took in the views and joked that he could take the rest of the day off and enjoy the view from there.

Since the course is in the middle of the national park, seeing wild animals is likely. Dechambeau crossed paths with a few animals, and was told he may run into Banff’s famous grizzly, The Boss.

“Hopefully we don’t run into him,” he said before demonstrating how to use the wildlife-proof trash bins.

Arriving at hole seven, Dechambeau described the 360 degree mountain views, the only hole on the course where you can see every mountain peak from a single fairway.

“Even if you’re having a bad hole, just look up at those mountains. That’ll take your worries away.”

He described the course as having every element of nature besides the ocean, but noted the river as a beautiful water source.

After hitting a birdie on the 14th hole, Dechambeau said the beauty of the course makes him want to play better.

On the final hole, he was still amazed at the course.

“What an unbelievable view. What a finishing hole,” he said. “You couldn’t put a golf course in a better place.”

Finishing the course, Dechambeau shot six under par and placed Banff Springs Golf Course at number two on his list of most beautiful courses in the world, behind Cypress Point in California.
